On April 24th and 25th, 2025, two international online lessons were held, broadcast live from Japan, intended for primary and secondary school students, as well as an international online lecture for pupils and students.
All the meetings were dedicated to the phenomenon of globalization. They were led by recognized experts in this field.
The events were organized as part of the Polish Science and Education Week at Expo 2025..
The lessons were led by Professor Witold Orłowski – an economist and author of economic novels for young people „Seized by Economics”. They were one of the many activities of Warsaw Institute of Banking and National Centre for Economic Education under the project „Dżek at Expo 2025. Economics beyond borders!”.
It was from the Polish Expo Pavilion in Osaka (Japan) that the broadcast of the lessons was launched and participants were welcomed. Thanks to this, it was not only an interesting class about economics, but also a kind of journey into the middle of one of the most important world events of recent years!
It was a unique opportunity for young people to feel part of the global community and see how Poland presents itself on the international stage.
Among other things, these questions were answered by the lesson leader and special guests.
A special guest at one of the lessons was the Minister of National Education, Barbara Nowacka, who emphasised that the school should broadly build the competences of the future, and that students should acquire not only theoretical but also practical knowledge. And issues related to economics and financial knowledge and entrepreneurship should be given even more attention from the earliest years of school education.
The speakers were: Professor Łukasz Hardt – economist, vice-president of the Polish Economic Society, Professor Marta Rakoczy from the University of Warsaw and Barbara Sochal, president of the Polish Janusz Korczak Association.
Like the lessons, the lecture was broadcast from the Polish Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, which emphasised its international dimension and the importance of the event.
During the lecture, participants were able to deepen their knowledge on:
The unique series of international lessons and lectures was attended by a total of more than 11,300 pupils and students, representing 369 schools and 32 universities from all over Poland.
As pointed out by the President of the Warsaw Banking Institute, Waldemar Zbytek – the initiator of the ‘Dżek for Expo 2025’ project – the high turnout and positive reception of the classes confirm the need for educational activities with a global reach, combining modern technologies, access to knowledge and exchange of international experience.
